I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. I would like to give everyone an update with the current issue around mobile phone thefts/robberies. Unfortunately there have been a series of serious assaults that have occurred elsewhere in Wandsworth, that has required our assistance, due to this we have not been able to be around the ward recently, we are hoping that will change starting this week.
Positive News:
On the 28th June 2025, two males on an E-bike made off from officers around Nine Elms, one managed to evade police whilst the second male was caught and detained in the area of Merchants Way, following an initial investigation, the male was arrested for conspiracy to commit robbery.
At the beginning of July, we had a period of around a week where no phone snatches were reported, however this crime has now continued for the second half of the month. In total since 1st JULY until now, Nine elms have received 7 reports of phone thefts. Continuing work is ongoing around this issue and further updates will be provided. As always please be vigilant of your surroundings when using your phone in public and register your IMEI number on the immobilize website.
